NuFabRx FAQ — OTC Allowance, HSA/FSA, Product Care
NuFabRx — Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a prescription for NuFabRx?
No. NuFabRx is an over-the-counter product. A prescription is also not needed to ask a pharmacist to check your plan's OTC allowance.
What is an OTC allowance, and how do I check mine?
Many health plans include a supplemental OTC allowance for everyday health items. Whether NuFabRx is included depends on your plan and remaining balance. Take your plan card to a pharmacy and ask them to run the check in their system, or call the number on the back of your card. Our step-by-step guide is here: How to check your OTC allowance.
Can I pay with HSA or FSA funds?
Yes. NuFabRx sleeves are HSA/FSA eligible. Rules vary by plan, so confirm with your administrator if unsure, and keep your receipt.
How is this different from creams and patches?
The capsaicin is infused into the compression fabric itself, so there is nothing to rub on and nothing to peel off. You put the sleeve on in the morning and wear it through your day. NuFabRx is for temporary relief of minor aches and pains of muscles and joints.
How long does a sleeve last?
Each sleeve stays effective for up to 15 washes. Follow the package directions for wear and care.
Which joints do you make sleeves for?
Knee, ankle, wrist, elbow, arm, calf and shin, leg, and compression socks.
Where can I buy NuFabRx?
Here on nufabrx.com, at national retailers including Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, and Amazon, and through your local pharmacy — most independent pharmacies can order NuFabRx through their wholesaler using the UPCs on our benefit guide page.
What if the pharmacy check does not go through?
Ask about HSA/FSA payment, ask the pharmacy to order the sleeve and try the check again when it arrives, or call your plan at the number on the back of your card to ask how your allowance works at a pharmacy. A declined check says something about the plan balance or item list at that moment — it does not change what the product is.
How do I care for the sleeve?
Follow the care directions on the package. Wash gently and let it dry fully before wearing again. Replace the sleeve when it reaches the end of its effective life (up to 15 washes) or loses its compression fit.
Who makes NuFabRx?
NuFabRx makes capsaicin-infused compression sleeves — an FDA-registered OTC drug product for temporary relief of minor aches and pains of muscles and joints, also eligible for HSA/FSA funds.
